What is Waterline PRO
Waterline PRO is a collection of assets aiming to be the ultimate in Water Simulation Tech!
We’ve been featured from everything from commercials, music videos, film, documentaries and award winning animation to games, VR projects and massive interactive installations!
As of Update 6 we offer support for Pools, Lakes, Seas and Oceans with support for interactive water simulation.
On top of this we offer a wide range of water related VFX like underwater effects for non-volumetric or volumetric (ocean only) fog, dynamic foam/ship wakes, pre-baked or real-time (ocean only) caustics, shoreline support and physics based buoyancy!
Unparalleled Water Simulation – our water simulation system allows for wide range of visual and performance customization, from Simulation Range (while on an infinite scale) and Resolution to Independent Framerate and the ability to simulate dynamic waves from low-poly proxy meshes.
This means that WaterlinePRO is suitable for a wide range of projects from real-time games to film and animation.
*While maintaining reasonable next gen visuals you can expect performance close to or slightly better than Unreal’s Vanilla water while rendering more VFX.
All Ocean Simulations – we support virtually every know Ocean Simulation method all working in real-time from your GPU! We support the gold standard movie quality FFT Oceans like the Phillips Spectrum, the JONSWAP Spectrum, the Pierson Moskowitz Spectrum as well as our own ground breaking Custom Ocean Spectrum which allows you to quickly and easily construct your very own ocean wave spectra from scratch (or add in anyone we might’ve missed above)!
All FFT simulations have also been custom extended with our very own directionality parameters allowing all ocean waves to travel independently of wind direction.
On top of all of this we also support Gerstner Waves for a more stylized approach or a lighter ocean simulation.
But that not all! Despite our best efforts real-time ocean simulation does not make sense for all projects this is why are also support pre-rendered ocean simulation animation and have included a library of 5 such pre-made oceans!
However we have one more surprise… you can mix and match ALL of these Ocean Simulations! That’s right more powerful systems can enjoy running up to 4 ocean simulations, layered on top of each other for a truly unparalleled degree of visual fidelity and fine control over every detail!
Finally our oceans work on an infinite scale (while still rendering details that are centimeters across) as well as all the VFX attached to them like our New Shore System!
More adventurous projects can also use some of our work-in-progress features like our Ocean Deformers which allow you to mask out sections of the ocean.
We also support a wide range of rendering pipelines like VR, nDisplay and even Path-Tracing (some VFX features are dependent on the pipeline)
Sequencer Support – almost every ocean parameter can be adjusted and smoothly blended for real-time ocean state changes as well as per wave key-framing for animation projects.

Note that Mobile feature (iOS and Android) are limited at the moment (no simulation) you can see what these are here: https://youtu.be/-oznhg1bJqU
Additional Notes:
//The Path Tracer does not currently support all features as this is something that is actively worked on by Epic.
Things like the Ocean Gen4 and the New Shore System will not render as expected in the Path Tracer.
//The Gen4 Ocean is a Work-In-Progress as such some rendering features may not fully work as expected at the moment and existing features may receive significant changes as development continues.
Multiple Ocean Cascades may not render underwater VFX as expected
Path Tracer does not currently work with the Gen4 Ocean
You can contact us at any time and request that the asset you want be added to the site from the Request Asset section.
