Story

The Crime Scene was inspired by a trip to Milano and walking into a fantastic place called LuBar and developing the idea of a café in a greenhouse with a spin of mystery.

Style

The style of this environment can be considered as semi-realistic to hyper-realistic.

Features:

• Modular meshes: 17 modular building meshes to recreate a simple corridor and thecentral area.

• Vegetation: 21 foliage meshes across 10 different species.

• Props: 33 additional props created for the scene.

• Materials: 7 materials including an advanced foliage material to access a Fresnel effect,boost emissive on the underside of the leaf and adjust lightmass intensity; a versatile props master material; a 2 layer blend material with normals and an additional color variation layer; and a simple decal and localized volume fog material.

“The good:

• Full PBR props that offer good character.
• Excellent use of UVs. No wasted space.
• Architectural elements are realistic looking.
• Interesting and efficient use of particles to create godrays.
• Excellent example map.
• Limited set of props, but that’s okay for a smaller pack.

The bad:

• The plaster and floor materials use a complex blend PBR, but it doesn’t look nearly good enough to justify the complexity.
• It would be nice if foliage props offered a Pivot Painter rigged version, much like Megascans.
• Setting up lamp props with exposed light setting blueprints produces odd material assignments. This is a very rare bug I’ve only seen once before.”
